After a beautiful trip up the Icefields Parkway through through Banff and Jasper, we turned around and headed back south to Yoho National Park, just outside of Banff.

We had initially intended to stay in Banff again, but decided to push on a little further and head for Yoho, which was such a wonderful surprise. We took the short, winding, scenic drive up to Takakkaw Falls, and camped by the Yoho River.

Let me sidebar—it was really difficult along our journey to make the decision to stop at turnouts for photos with a sleeping baby in the car who’d wake up as soon as we stopped. The photographer in me and the mom in me were constantly at war the entire trip, and it forced me to be really selective about which spots I stopped for.

But there was no question here.

After Yoho, we drove through Glacier National Park, and again—just wow. The weather was perfect with the fog threaded through the mountains. It was an absolute dream to drive through. Then we stopped in the small town of Revelstoke for lunch, and headed onward to Kamloops to camp for the night.

We hadn’t planned on heading this way at all at the outset of our trip—we made that decision on a whim while we were up in Jasper—so the drive from Yoho to Kamloops was completely unplanned, unexpected, and unbelievable.
